Aims and Objectives
Like the true Church universal, this local church exists for the upholding of God’s Word and His ordinances, the mutual instruction of His people, the declaration of the gospel of salvation to the world, and the demonstration of His praise. This church accepts the whole Word of God as being the record of divine revelation, progressive in the history of Israel, perfect in Christ, and in and through which God continues to speak to individuals, as the only rule of faith and practice.
In order to work this out in a practical way, we meet together on Sundays for collective worship and praise, public preaching and teaching of God’s Word, instructing the young, participation in the Breaking of Bread / Communion and making known the Gospel. On other days there are regular meetings for further Bible study, prayer and fellowship, and evangelistic outreach particularly to children. Occasionally, we also hold special events with the aim of attracting local people to hear the good news about Jesus.
We are served by both local and visiting preachers, the objective being to provide helpful and varied exposition of the Bible for all ages of people, together with effective presentation of the Gospel message for this day and age, so that everyone is encouraged to acknowledge Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord of their lives. We seek to reach people with the gospel by personal contact, Christian literature, public preaching, and in other ways we feel is necessary from time to time.
The central theme of all our activities and preaching is this : “That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians ch 2 v 10, 11). Our desire is that all believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, not already enjoying a settled church fellowship, should feel at home among us. We also desire that those who are searching for God, but are not yet assured of forgiveness and personal salvation, may find sympathy and help to that end. To all such persons we extend a warm welcome to the public meetings and services.
