Who we are

Netherfield Chapel is the home of an independent local evangelical church that has been active in Milton Keynes since the early 1970s. The church originated in Bletchley and then met for several years in various locations including the Meeting Place at Tinkers Bridge while the Chapel was planned and built. Netherfield Chapel was opened in the autumn of 1983.

More on our history and location.

The building is witness to God’s provision – of money generously given through Christian people and those concerned to see an active church in this area – and of dedicated talents in design and construction.

Those who meet at Netherfield Chapel do not belong to any particular denomination. We are simply Christians who draw from the Bible our guidance in faith and everyday living. We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that He came to earth as God in human form, that He died for our sins and that He rose from the dead so that all who believe in Him may have eternal life. Through Christ we can have our sins forgiven, we can be certain of life after death of a quality unimaginable to us now, and of more abundant life while here on earth. We also believe in the illuminating, regenerating, indwelling and sanctifying work of God the Holy Spirit, whose fruit and power should be evident in all true believers.

Please take a look at our Core Values / Statement of Faith for a more detailed look at what we believe.

There is no minister or vicar at Netherfield Chapel. The church is led by a group of its members called Elders who are responsible for the spiritual and social work of the church. They also, along with a few others, form a group of Trustees who look after the property and oversee the administrative aspects. Church Meetings involving the entire membership take place on a regular basis to discuss and undertake major decisions affecting the life of the church.
