History
This Christian Fellowship was formed as a local church in 1974 although the founder members had been meeting together in their respective homes in Bletchley since 1971. These Christians met together for Bible study and prayer to seek Gods will through His Word, and this resulted in the conviction that they should meet more publicly for worship and witness. From those early days it was envisaged that there should be some sort of local witness for the Lord set up in the rapidly developing areas of South Milton Keynes.
After moving from Bletchley we first met in the Community House in Tinkers Bridge, then the local temporary health centre, followed by a community “Small Meeting Place” built by Milton Keynes Development Corporation.
We believe the Lord was positively encouraging us to establish a permanent place of worship where His Name might be glorified. And so it was in 1976 that plans were drawn up for us by a local Christian architect for a Chapel building. This design was approved by Milton Keynes Development Corporation and we embarked on what was an extremely ambitious project for such small numbers in fellowship at that time.
There were times when we became disillusioned by the slow rate of progress and we wondered whether we had taken on a task way beyond our resources and capabilities. But God always gave us encouragement and urged us on. There were numerous clear signs that He was moving us forward, and indeed was going on before us and leading the way. The money continued to flow in, both from within and without the fellowship, sometimes from people we did not even know and who did not know us.
We simply could not have achieved this goal on our own. The Lord Himself was with us and it was only through Him prompting interested Christians, and others, from a very wide area, and providing local, technical talent, that we have been able to see this project materialise.
The Chapel building was occupied for the first time on Sunday 11th September 1983 and was officially opened on Saturday 3rd December 1983. We give praise and glory to our Lord for His wonderful provision.
The Chapel is registered as a place of meeting for religious worship and is licensed for the solemnisation of marriages. The believers who meet here are an independent evangelical local church.
